Nutrient is manifesting a future of renewable energy, sustainable transport, healthy regenerative soil and efficiently-utilized water resources.
Nutrient is making significant investments in renewable energy so that one day it can operate hybrid off-grid with net-zero energy consumption. We are also sequestering carbon with every product grown.

PHOTOVOLTAIC (PV) PRODUCTION
87.2 kW installed.
The Livestock Barn, Hay Barn, Farm House and Chicken Coops have received solar panels so far.
Akaushi ("red cattle" in Japanese), known as the Emperor's Breed, is the one of 4 varieties of Wagyu. Akaushi is considered to be the highest quality beef variety in the world and is sought after by connoisseurs and chefs alike.
STATIONARY STORAGE
250 kWh installed.
Stationary storage is a crucial part of the solar system that enhances the efficiency, reliability, and flexibility of the solar power installation. This system stores excess electricity generated by solar panels for later use, ensuring a continuous power supply even when the sun isn't shining.
This infrastructure will power the future Meat Processing Unit (solar-powered meat processing!) and Black Soldier Fly Larva Farm.

GEOTHERMAL EARTH BATTERY
7,200 sq. ft. installed.
The Greenhouse contains 6 Earth Batteries (1,200 sq. ft. each, 7,200 sq. ft. total) which are an innovative and sustainable method for building temperature regulation. They leverage the stable temperature of the earth to heat or cool the greenhouse environment, improving plant growth conditions and reducing the need for external energy sources.
Phase-Change Material (PCM)
Hundreds installed.
The Greenhouse contains Phase Change Material (PCM) tiles. Each tile contains substances that absorb or release a significant amount of latent heat when they change their physical state, between liquid and solid. This ability to store and release thermal energy makes PCMs highly valuable in various applications for temperature regulation and thermal management.
PCMs can also be seen in the background of the above Geothermal Earth Battery photo.

Nutrient is making significant investments in Sustainable Transport.
100% Electric Cars/Trucks
Tesla vehicles have been procured to help lower logistics energy costs in regards to operations, local deliveries, farmer's markets and agritourism.
100% electric vehicles (EV) are a type of automobile that is powered entirely by electricity, without the use of any internal combustion engine or fossil fuels. These vehicles are designed to be energy-efficient, environmentally friendly and cost-effective in the long run.

100% Electric Semi
A Tesla Semi has been reserved for future larger Wholesale deliveries.
This revolutionary technology will one day be able to operate autonomously, lowering operating costs and thus product prices, even further.
This background image is merely artwork and is not our vision of the future farm. The spaceship should make this obvious. There are no wind energy projects or swarms of drones desired either.
Nutrient is making significant investments in soil health. Nutrient Farm practices regenerative, no-till, Biodynamic, Organic agriculture. The soil is built and cultivated using living manure and Biodynamic Preparations. Never used are GMO's, Synthetic Pesticides or Biosludge. Livestock are intensively rotational grazed between Nutrient Farm's East pasture paddocks, West pasture and 2,000 acre Vulcan BLM Allotment.
Each year, testing will be performed to track soil health.
Mixed Crops (0.1 acre)
Fruit Orchard (10 acres)
U-Pick Fruit Orchard (10 acres)
Berry Orchard (27 acres)
Hay Field (140 acres)
Nutrient Farm is committed to farming and ranching holistically and sustainably.
Biodynamic Organic agriculture has been practiced since 2018. Crops are grown with vital compost produced with living, composted manure and treated with Biodynamic Preparations.
To track the trend in Sustainability, we will be annually conducting the following soil health tests in all of our crop production areas:
- Total Nutrient Digestion
- 24 Hour Burst Respiration
- PLFA Fungi Biomass
- Haney Soil Health Calculation
(chart layers may be toggled on/off)
2023 G1, O1 and O2 data is represented by the results of 2024 O3 because it is adjacent and generally the same pasture before any agriculture began.
TOTAL NUTRIENT DIGESTION tests nutrient availability. Nutritive minerals are reported in Parts Per Million (PPM). We first calculate each nutrient's Delta (difference) as PPM from Optimum (average of optimal range) as a positive number and proceed to convert it into a percentage of Optimum. The percentages of all nutrients are then averaged together. The average is inverted (subtracted) from 5 to get a number that grows when there is improvement. Finally, this value is multiplied by a standardization number of 10 to get two digit trackable number that becomes higher the closer the PPM is to Optimum and lower the further (in either direction) the PPM is to Optimum.
The goal is to produce numbers in a similar range from all tests so they can be represented logically on the same bar chart. Actual data in below linked reports.
24 HOUR BURST RESPIRATION tests biological activity by analyzing the Soil Resp. ppm CO2-C, which are divided by 10 to get a two digit trackable number.
PLFA FUNGI BIOMASS tests and quantifies the amount of fungal biomass is in the soil. Total Biomass is determined as PLFA ng/g soil, which is divided by 400 to get a two digit trackable number.
HANEY SOIL HEALTH CALCULATION
tests the overall health an fertility of the soil; it is a composite number that is tracked directly without additional modification.

PIPELINE
We are constructing a 5-mile, gravity-fed Pipeline to convey 1908 senior water rights from its historical point of diversion. Over 2 miles already installed. The pipelines maximum interal diameter is 24" and it is comprised of food-grade HDPE.
Seepage and evaporation losses are eliminated during conveyance as is the need for pump maintenance and electricity!
*High-Density Polyethylene (HDPE) utilizes thermal butt-fusion, eliminating the use of Poly Vinyl Chloride (PVC), chemical primers and adhesives, which are known to leach bisphenols and phthalates.
WATER STORAGE
Multiple storage ponds are being constructed to proxy water when most abundant in order to minimize the CFS of water conveyed when less abundant; effectively "consumption leveling".

POND LINING
To minimize seepage losses of the water conveyed, every pond constructed is being covered with food-grade HDPE liners.
*HDPE utilizes thermal butt-fusion, eliminating the use of PVC, chemical primers and adhesives, which are known to leach bisphenols and phthalates.
EFFICIENT IRRIGATION
Efficient, food-grade, HDPE drip-line irrigation systems are being constructed in the Nursery, Greenhouse and Orchards to put the water exactly where it is needed.
This prevent waste, over-watering and evaporation losses.
*HDPE utilizes thermal butt-fusion, eliminating the use of PVC, chemical primers and adhesives, which are known to leach bisphenols and phthalates.

AUTOMATION CONTROLLERS
Automation provides accuracy and fault tolerance.
The right amount of water is irrigated at the right times, without human error.
MOISTURE MANAGEMENT
Mulching: Applying organic mulch reduces evaporation, maintains soil moisture, and moderates soil temperature.
Cover Crops planting helps retain soil moisture, reduce erosion and improve soil structure.
No Till Agriculture minimizes soil microbiome disturbance, helps retain moisture and reduce evaporation.

EFFICIENT LIVESTOCK WATERING
Nutrient Farm uses waterers that minimize spillage and evaporation.
They use gravity-fed, energy-free float-valves that deliver water to livestock at a more optimal temperature.
This encourages drinking more, which in turn promotes eating more and optimal weight gain.
GREY WATER
We are ready to engineer grey water systems into our construction. It is permitted by the State, but unfortunately not by the County yet.
If we have the opportunity, Nutrient Farm will work with the County to help codify modern grey-water systems into permittance.
